- Amazing two-seat turbocharged coupé
- Designed by famous Ferrari concept stylist
- Advanced touch-screen infotainment unit
When Saab pulled the covers off the surprise PhoeniX concept, it did so in front of a massive screen showing flames. No prizes for guessing the point of this car, then, especially as Saab's other debut is the 9-3 Independence Edition. Bye bye, General Motors!

What's all the fuss about?
The PhoeniX is a genuine surprise - no pre-Geneva build up here - and what's more, it's absolutely stunning. There's no chance whatsoever of it being made (despite parent company Spyker's expertise in making outlandish supercars), but it does show that Saab is ready to become the unique, slightly left-field maker it once was, before the GM era - when highly average Vauxhall Vectra-based saloons were the showroom staple.

Any new technology?
The PhoeniX has a 200bhp 1.6-litre turbocharged petrol engine driving the front wheels and a 34bhp electric motor driving the rears, effectively giving it four-wheel drive. It should make the car quick and agile, yet capable of 56mpg. It was designed by Jason Castriota, the same man responsible for the lovely (and one-off) Ferrari P4/5 and the cabin features an internet-ready touch-screen infotainment system.
