Geneva 2011: Kia Picanto
- Choice of four engines
- 1.0-litre petrol unit emits 95g/km
- Sharp new styling
Kia has pulled the wraps of the new Picanto, which has been given a thorough restyle for 2011 and has a series of new engines. It's larger than the outgoing model and the jutting bumper and bold lines render it much more eye-catching.
What's all the fuss about?
Small cars are big business and the Picanto has been a strong seller for Kia in the UK for some time. The new model will be made with four engines, but only two will make it to the UK - 1.0-litre and 1.2-litre petrol.
LPG, bi-fuel and flex-fuel versions will also be offered in European markets, but the UK will probably have to make do with petrol versions only.
What makes it so green?
A 1.0-litre petrol engine is never going to use much fuel, but Kia has added its ISG (Independent Stop and Go) stop-start system, which helps to get emissions down to 95g/km, so the 1.0-litre Picanto will be free of road tax under current regulations.
